I've known Patsy for years in our house music days, but recently we became closer and encouraged each other through our cancer journey. Thank you, Patsy for your warm, loving encouragement and for the beautiful blanket you sent me after my recent surgery which I wrap myself in all the time & think of you. I love you dear heart. Rest well. My deepest condolences to the family and many friends who love you!

It was an honor and most certainly a pleasure to have worked with Patsy Powell at the Atlanta Police Academy. Her lively spirit and demeanor kept everyone levelheaded and uplifted during some challenging times. I love that Patsy was willing to serve in a role where she could ensure that the department would employ and train the best and the brightest. Job well done Sgt. Powell! My deepest condolences are extended to the Powell family and may she rest in heaven with the angels!
I was truly blessed and honored to have known Sgt. Powell. She was there throughout my onboarding process, and when I began the Atlanta Police Academy in September 2025 as a member of Recruit Class #299, she was one of the very first instructors to stand before our class. I'll never forget that day. She welcomed us, but she also made sure we understood the seriousness of the profession we had chosen. She didn't just teach policies and procedures—she taught us what it truly meant to wear the badge with honor, integrity, humility, and accountability. Looking back, I realize she was doing so much more than instructing recruits. She was shaping the next generation of law enforcement officers. Her words, her presence, and her leadership left an impression that many of us will carry throughout our careers. I'm grateful that God allowed our paths to cross. My sincere prayers and deepest condolences are with the Powell family, her friends, and my entire Atlanta Police Department family. Rest easy, Sergeant. We'll take it from here.💙🖤🕊️ ~ Recruit J. Nash
To the family of my beloved spiritual lil sister. I had the honor of knowing Patsy GIR over 20 something years. I was introduced to her by my baby sister Diane Watts her best friend. Pasty was a Gem she was one of a kind. I loved her Style Lol she was Smoothed. I can visualize her Dancing so Smoothed. Now She Is Dancing With The Stars. Sleep On My Lil Sister I Will See You In The Morning.
Hey sis I remember when we met at Pride in Atlanta over 30 years ago. We partied all weekend and that started our friendship. We started to meet every year in Atlanta and then started to visit each other city and no matter what we danced and shut down the clubs in NY and Chicago. You ate my first cooked meal. You encouraged me to move to Atlanta and change my profession and change my life. You were my gym partner and roommate. You are my sister for life. You were a beacon of light beautiful smile genuine heart and genuine spirit. I will miss you forever. You were truly a gift from God to me.❤️❤️🥰🥰
Ms.Powell, thank you for allowing us to be a part of the team for your healthcare for more than 20 years.
It was a good great pleasure getting to know you and spending your last couple weeks with you…. From day one you made me feel welcome you and your family every time I met one embraced me with a hug….you will truly be missed you can rest now
Patsy, Patsy....dancing til the break of dawn is what we did every weekend. I first met Patsy at the Warehouse in Chicago. Her, Cochese and I would go to the movies afterward. Not only was Patsy an amazing dancer but an amazing person with a heart full of love, passion and forgiveness. Patsy your smile, laughter and dance moves will live on forever!! Rest easy. I know you danced, danced and danced your way into the next phase. Love ya my dance sister!
If love alone could have kept you here, you would have lived forever. Thank you for trusting me to walk beside you through life’s journey. Caring for you was one of the greatest honors of my life. I miss you more than words can express, but I find comfort knowing that you are now at peace in the arms of our Lord. Until we see each other again, I will love you always. Your Loving Sister, Donna
I met you when we moved next to on Lake Street I think we were in the sixth grade. Your family was lovely. I'm so glad we kept in touch throughout the years, it was so good to see you a couple years ago and know you're in a much better place..Our Sister of EofB we will miss dearly. My sincere condolences to the Powell family you are in my prayers🙏🏾
Powell, from the time I met you in Chicago in 05 when you’ll were recruiting to you telling me in the recruitment van that “I didn’t need to eat the Varsity” based on my physical test run, I appreciated your honesty and transparency. You taught me command presence from the way your uniform was custom tailored to you. The honor that every officer killed in the line of duty received from you during your honor guard duties. You will be sorely missed. Prayers of comfort to your family during this difficult time.
How do you say goodbye to someone who has been such an important person in your life? I think of you and want to instantly text or call as if nothing has changed. All of our “ Girl, I have something to tell you!” conversations or catch up phone calls now will be quietly spoken in my mind. Tears stream when I reflect on everything we went through together and apart. You were my best friend and only sister. You were my house head dance partner. You were my “ I love you” at the end of every phone call. I will always hear the thunderous laughter between us and the endless joy we shared. Thank you for being everything I ever wanted in a friend. My heart is so lonely without you but I am not a selfish person and so I will rest knowing you are resting. I find comfort knowing you can rest easy now. Your legacy is more than the illness that separated us. The spark of your laughter, the energy of your mere presence and the genuine love you shared is what will forever live in all the hearts you touched. You will be forever loved my friend by your Chicago BFF! I love you. Donna
Patsy was such an amazing woman. She was always the calm spirit, voice of reason and such an easy person to be around. She was always genuine and faced any adversity with a calm, courageous spirit. From Chute days to high-school and beyond, she was always real. We'd chuckle every time she'd mistakenly call me trying to reach her sister in law who had the same name as mine. But those calls I so appreciated because it was like we had talked all the time. Rest well beautiful Patsy. The heavens have gained a true angel.
Dear Sis, As I sit down to reflect on your life, I’m filled with a mix of sorrow and gratitude. You were not just my big sister; you were a beacon of strength and inspiration. Your unwavering love, care, and intentionality in everything you did shaped my understanding of what it means to truly live. You embraced life with an adventurous spirit—whether it was through your dedication to the Atlanta police force, your service in the military, or the countless travels that broadened your horizons. You showed us all how to pursue our passions wholeheartedly and to cherish every moment. I often think about your encouragement to keep God at the center of our lives. It’s a reminder that through faith, we find strength to carry on and honor your legacy. I know you would want us to live fully, just as you did, with joy and purpose. Rest well, Sis. Your absence leaves a void that can never be filled, but your spirit will forever guide us. I miss you more than words can express. With all my love, Lil Sis Deb

Passing you will be missed and always loved we'll miss your energetic ways knowing you can get on that dance floor and be on it all night rest in peace sweetie
To our beloved friend from Chicago, it breaks our hearts to hear of your passing. We always stayed connected through the years, checking in during the holidays, celebrating birthdays, and supporting one another through life’s health struggles. We will miss your beautiful smile, infectious laughter, quick wit, caring heart, and, of course, dancing together at the clubs and making memories at the Chosen Few picnics whenever you came home. Rest in peace, our dear sister. May you now enjoy eternal life reunited with your parents and Hecky. Until we meet again, you will forever hold a special place in our hearts. My deepest condolences and prayers are with your family during this incredibly difficult time. May they find strength, comfort, and peace in the cherished memories you leave behind.
Patsy, from our first meeting at Z3 Mini Precinct, we clicked. You were my little sister and I was told to keep you safe. Always up for an adventure and being the same height, we had some exciting times. After retiring and moving away, I always felt the need to look you up when I visited Atlanta because your beautiful smile never failed to brighten my day. Sleep well Sis, I will truly miss you. 🌹🌹🌹
Selfless. Shared herself with everyone. She will be deeply missed.
Patsy was a leader even as a teenager in Evanston. In karate, our sensei (Terry Brown) looked to her to guide the younger students. She helped us with our katas, our stances - everything. We thought she was so cool, and we were in awe watching her compete in karate tournaments. How amazing it was decades later to do a different kind of dance with Patsy all around Atlanta - to House music! Joy! Joy! Joy! Always kind, always with a smile and a hug, always with a smooth dance move, Patsy made every room, every dojo, every music lounge better. I imagine she's still doing the very same thing in Heaven. Rest well, Patsy.
This is a hard pill to swallow. I'm too emotional to set much. But I met Patsy back in Chicago in the 80s on the dance floor somewhere and we have been super cool every since. I met several of her family members in Chicago and when they would come here in Atlanta to see her. She was a good spirited person, one that doesn't come around often. I will fueling miss her and that big smile.
I met Patricia when I was a recruit about to go into the police Academy for the Atlanta police department. She took me under her wing, showed me the way, and we became fast friends. She was one of my best friends in the world. Boy. Could that girl dance? I love watching her dance as we party to our house music. She was a house heads. I will eternally miss you. Rest in peace and in purpose my friend. My condolences to her family and everyone who loved her. " For I am convinced that neither death nor life neither angels nor demons neither the present nor the future nor any power. Will be able to separate you from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord"
Mi deepest sympathy to your family. I remember we meet in high school. You were a great tennis player and friend. You battled your illness with courage unseen. I will miss my Essence of Babes sister. Gone but never forgotten. Love you

My Condolences to our Family. MAY GOD KEEP PATSY IN HIS LOVING ARMS ALWAYS. WE LOVE YOU PATSY 🙏🏾❤️
I met Patsy on my very first day at Evanston High School. I had just become the varsity tennis coach, and Patsy was already the number one player on the team. From that first day, we connected. Patsy was a ferocious competitor, and we shared that competitive spirit. I admired her toughness, determination, and single-minded focus. The Powell family lived across the street from the tennis courts, and they quickly made me feel welcome. Patsy's parents were truly salt-of-the-earth people. Mrs. Powell would often bring me catfish sandwiches during practice. That's not why Patsy was our number one player, but it certainly didn't hurt. The Powells welcomed me into their home for dinner, and I came to know what an extraordinary family they were. Later in my tenure at Evanston, I had the opportunity to work with Patsy's brother, Hecky, who became a pillar of the community in his own right. Although Patsy eventually moved away from Evanston, my affection and admiration for her never faded. She was a remarkable athlete, a fierce competitor, and, more importantly, a wonderful person. I will always remember her strength, her spirit, and the special bond we formed through tennis. My heart goes out to her family and everyone whose life she touched. Patsy will be deeply missed, but she will never be forgotten.

Sgt. Powell or “PowPow” is and was a beautiful soul throughout. With every word, laugh, sarcasm and seriousness we shared you were intentional and genuine. We worked to make things right when we needed even if we weren’t asked to and we celebrated everyone - even those who called us short 🤭. But you will always live in our hearts and minds- legacy never perishes. You will be missed my friend - very much.
