Celebrating a Life Well-Lived

Celebration of Life for Deacon Anthony (Bubba) Rogers Deacon Rogers was born on November 28, 1951, in Atlanta, Georgia, to the late Mr. Nathaniel Rogers and Mrs. Sally Grace Rogers. He accepted Christ at a young age. Deacon Rogers attended Samuel H. Archer High School in Atlanta, Georgia, and later attended DeKalb Technical School. As he matured into adulthood, he discovered his true calling, becoming a Certified Diesel Mechanic and eventually obtaining his ASE refrigerant certification in 1999. He was a skilled mechanic for over 50 years. He was also an over-the-road Peterbilt truck driver for 19 years and loved the Jake Brakes. Deacon Rogers had a particular passion for restoring antique vehicles, including his personal 1974 Chevy. He owned and operated Rogers Auto Service for several years. Well known in the community for his work as a mobile mechanic, he blessed many people with his craft; whether friends or family, he was always willing to help without hesitation. Deacon Rogers was also a proud United States Marine, and once a Marine, always a Marine. His service to his country reflected his discipline, courage, and commitment to something greater than himself. That same spirit of service never left him; it simply found a new mission grounded in faith. Though there was a season when he drifted away from the Lord, God’s grace drew him back. Under the leadership of Rev. Randy Jackson, he rededicated his life to Christ in 2005, becoming a member of Walker Tabernacle Baptist Church. Through this, he found renewed strength in the life-changing power of God, embracing the good news of Jesus Christ wholeheartedly. As he grew in faith and devotion, he was ordained as deacon in 2009, serving with unwavering commitment, humility, and dedication to God, his pastor, and church family. His faithful service reflected his deep love for the Lord and desire to be a blessing to others. He used his many talents for the Lord as a Sunday School teacher, president of the laymen’s department for the Atlanta Missionary Baptist Association, and a pillar of support to his pastor. He was a committed finance team member who also sang with the Mighty Voices of Thunder and the R.L. Calloway Gospel Choir. He managed church business, mail runs, groundskeeping, and picking up supplies. He was the designated church mechanic, a reliable van driver, top-flight church security, and a building repairman whose sharp memory never wavered even in failing health. Deacon Rogers was full of life, and he appreciated the finer things in life. He took pride in shopping, self-care, and fishing. He was known as a skilled grill and fish fry master and loved to eat. He was an expert pool player for over twenty years. He spent more than a decade as the co-captain of the 8-Ball of Fire pool team, earning a collection of trophies playing at Mr. Cues II Billiards. Above all his titles and hobbies, he was a dedicated husband and family man. His love for his family was defined by his active

presence. He consistently showed up for the people he loved, anchoring them with unwavering support, loyalty, and lasting joy. On May 31, 2026, surrounded by the love of family and sustained by the grace of God, Deacon Anthony Rogers peacefully entered into eternal rest and was welcomed into the loving arms of his Savior. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Nathaniel Rogers and Mrs. Sally Grace Rogers, and his brother, Roderick Rogers. He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife, Angela Rogers; children, Toni Walker, Christie Rogers, Angela Rogers (daughter), Natalie Rogers, Starkesier Jones, and Trenton Willis; grandchildren, Jullian Rogers, Daria Guffie, Christian Rogers, Zyan Taylor, Caleb Rogers, Ray Kennebrew Jr., Trenity Willis, and Josiah Willis; a great- granddaughter, Bria Rogers; his brother, Todd Rogers (Barbara); along with a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, great-cousins, goddaughters, countless friends, and church family who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.

Psalm 24:1 The earth is the Lord, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein…
